Bea Policarpio is a Filipina artist whose body of work represents an evolving journey of self-expression. In her first five years as a full-time painter, her abstract strokes have been recognized for their impasto textures in bold color palettes ranging from ocean blues to kaleidoscopic hues.
Inspired by various travels and by nature, she creates layered compositions of a dreamy inner world colored by these experiences. Infusing feminine energy in her art, she describes her current work as a meditation on the fluid passage of time, acting as a mirror for the viewer’s own perceptions. Her goal is to visually transport the viewer to a transcendent place resembling states of mind between dreaming and waking, memory and imagination.
Since 2018, she has joined national art fairs, artist residencies, and several group exhibits. She has collaborated with international brands and recently completed a 2023 summer program in Barcelona, Spain. Celebrating spontaneity and constant change in her work, she continues to open herself up to the possibility of mixing medias, textiles, and artistic formats in her practice moving forward.
