“The Janus Cosmos,” a collaborative exhibition featuring the works of Richard Buxani and Darwin Guevarra, delves into the realms of duality and the abstract, shedding light on the invisible aspects of existence. Drawing inspiration from Janus, the Roman god of gateways, known for his dual-faced visage symbolizing beginnings and endings, Buxani and Guevarra explore the profound interplay of opposing forces in life’s fabric.
Richard Buxani, a seasoned metal sculptor and architect by education, infuses his abstract works with the principles of architecture—beauty and balance. His sculptures, crafted predominantly from black iron, steel, brass, copper, and stainless steel, emerge through the bend and weld technique. The direct interaction with the metal material breathes life into the images conceived in Buxani’s mind, manifesting his distinct artistic vision.
Darwin Guevarra collaborates with Buxani, infusing their joint creations with his evocative paintings. Within “The Janus Cosmos,” their combined efforts give birth to sculptures featuring hollow heads brimming with ideas, resurgent trees, expectant women, and animals adorned with skeletons and musculature on their exteriors.
The exhibition invites viewers to contemplate the multifaceted nature of existence and our place within the Janus Cosmos. Buxani and Guevarra’s intertwined artistic expressions evoke the eternal dance of dualities, inviting us to explore the unseen depths beneath the surface of reality.
