As we prepare to ring in a new year, Altro Mondo presents Rondo VIII, an exciting coda to the year that was and a celebration of artistic diversity. Featuring an impressive roster of local and international artists, the exhibition showcases an eclectic mix of styles, mediums, and themes, reflecting the evolving narrative of contemporary art. From emerging talents to seasoned creators, each work invites viewers to engage with unique perspectives and creative expressions.
0270501 examines the materiality and emotive power of unconventional media, using materials such as volcanic ash and soot in his monochrome paintings. Binong Javier employs his signature impasto paint droplets to create expressive compositions, while Noli Manalang adds a surrealist twist to classical imagery in his work, using mother of pearl as his canvas. Markus Jentes blends minimalism with vibrant lines and shapes, evolving towards more abstract-expressionist works, while Maricar Tolentino challenges traditional notions of femininity and vulnerability through her fiber art, using needle and thread as powerful tools of resistance.
These are just some of the many artists included in the exhibit, which also features the works of Ambie Abaño, Pancho Alvarez, Renee Avila, Antonia Baytion, Steven Yago Burce, Pierre Roy-Camille, Jerome Choco, J Consunji, Katrina Cuenca, Bo Cumagun, Gary Custodio, Olivia D’Aboville, Carlo de Laza, Mario de Rivera, Mac Eparwa, Mark Czar Espenilla, Carzen Arpa Esprela, Maurizio L’Altrella, Pabsie Martus, Lanzvoltaire, Lorebert Maralita, Enrico Minguzzi, Leeroy New, Niño Odosis, Alessandro Papetti, Joel Reglos, Tom Russ, Jerson Samson, Francisco Sepúlveda, Franz Vocalan, Jemima Yabes, and Nasser Zulueta.
