“PREAMBLE” is an exhibition that delves into the essence of the Preamble of the 1987 Philippine Constitution. Each member of the Kabugtuan Group—comprising Abril Valdemoro, Honey Maglalang, Jessa Balag, JP Lopez, Ledz Taboada, Lorebert Maralita, Luntian Kagubatan, and Marte Goyon—has chosen an Article from the Constitution to explore through their art. This exhibition underscores the enduring significance of the Preamble and the principles that guide the nation.

The 1987 Philippine Constitution reaffirms the Filipino people’s commitment to a just and humane society. The Preamble captures this vision, stating:

“We, the sovereign Filipino people, imploring the aid of Almighty God, in order to build a just and humane society and establish a Government that shall embody our ideals and aspirations, promote the common good, conserve and develop our patrimony, and secure to ourselves and our posterity the blessings of independence and democracy under the rule of law and a regime of truth, justice, freedom, love, equality, and peace, do ordain and promulgate this Constitution.”

As such, the artworks in the exhibit highlight themes such as equality, justice, freedom, and the common good, inviting viewers to reflect on their role in upholding these ideals. “PREAMBLE” serves as a reminder of the Constitution’s relevance and the ongoing need to strive for a just, humane, and democratic Philippines.
