The Philippines wears the residual scars of its complicated past like a badge of honor. Its troubled history endures, hardwired into the issues that plague its inhabitants today: graft, corruption, traffic, whether pedestrian or automotive. These inconveniences accumulate, slowing progress down to a standstill.
In LINGERING, emerging artists Andres Catig, Jeosh Sandoval, Jolo Senense, Macj Turla, RC Camarines, Rhichelle Kirk, Rhoss Gadiana, and Wen-d Patoc choose to expose the paradoxes that paralyze contemporary Philippine society through different representations on canvas. The artists beckon the viewer to pause, evoking from them poignant emotions and sensibilities through reminders of the ills of society that continue to stay.
