In Greek mythology, Iris represents the rainbow personified, whose name is derived from the Greek word for rainbow. These magnificent, prismatic patchworks in the sky are the inspiration for Rosscapili’s solo exhibition Iris.

The works in the show collectively extols the virtues of the gift of sight and appreciating the beautiful memories in our mind’s eye, as the iris allows light into our eyes so we can see. Capili’s mediums of choice–acrylic, resin, and metal–are chosen to reflect this. substance dries quickly, allowing him to see his creations in no time.

Each piece features his signature broad brushstrokes, bold and confident, further emphasized by a vibrant, kaleidoscopic palette. Like the goddess it takes its name from, the exhibit links that which is divine to humanity, serving as an ode to life and all the wonders and idiosyncrasies that come with it.
