“All art is dangerous,” remarks Rhodora Haze in “Velvet Buzzsaw,” a sentiment that underscores the essence of the “Free Fall” exhibition. This exhibit challenges the conventional definitions of art, emphasizing the peril and unpredictability inherent in the creative process.

“Free Fall” explores the concept of artmaking as a daring leap into the unknown, where artists risk losing control to create something genuinely new. Each exhibition in the city strives either to achieve the grandeur of the classics or to dismantle old conventions, embracing the DIY ethos of contemporary art. The freedom to create often leads to non-art, anti-art, or even outsider art, pushing the boundaries of what art can be.

The exhibition features nine artists: Argie Bandoy, Joe Bautista, Al Cruz, Don Djerassi Dalmacio, RM De Leon, Poch Naval, Raul G. Rodriguez, Erik Sausa, and Alvin Villaruel. Each brings unique approaches to unveiling art. Their works are fluid, amorphous, and unpredictable, reflecting the broad possibilities of contemporary art. They explore new frontiers, blending genres and embracing stylistic risks to achieve their creative visions.

“Free Fall” invites viewers to experience art that is not only visually striking but also conceptually profound, encouraging a deeper connection with the unknown and the new.
