Fleurs

In Fleurs, French-Filipino artist Olivia d’Aboville transforms handwoven raffia from Cebu into sculptural blooms that dissolve the boundaries between craft and contemporary art. In her Manila atelier, she meticulously pleats and smocks hundreds of meters of custom-woven natural fibers, ordered months in advance, into intricate circular forms with two distinct identities: one side tightly folded in rhythmic precision, the other open as a lattice, alive with vivid knots of color.

Departing from her celebrated wall-based works, d’Aboville brings these pieces into full three-dimensional presence, suspending them in space or setting them on custom metal stems created with Industria Edition. Their physicality recalls both botanical forms and architectural structures, balancing softness with strength, fragility with permanence.

The series continues her exploration of material and form while deepening her dialogue with themes of nature, resilience, and transformation. The title references her floral sculpture presented at Révélations, the international biennial of fine crafts at the Grand Palais in Paris, in May 2025.

With major exhibitions in both Europe and Asia, d’Aboville has established herself as an artist whose works transcend borders and traditions, bridging design, craft, and contemporary art. Highly sought after by collectors and institutions alike, her pieces are prized not only for their technical mastery but also for their ability to evoke wonder and contemplation. Fleurs stands as a landmark in her career, offering rare works that affirm her place among the most innovative and desired artists of her generation.

With Fleurs, d’Aboville invites viewers into a suspended moment between growth and stillness, where each bloom becomes both an object of beauty and a living system of tension, emergence, and ecological reflection.
