Deeper Reflections is a solo exhibition by visual artist Jay Ragma. Using his signature threadlike fine lines organized in a compact organized chaos, Ragma hones in on the idea of taking a step back and reflecting on life. His visual tapestries of parallel and organized lines communicate a sense of dynamic movement, urging viewers to stay still to catch a glimpse of the true splendor of his work. In this moment of stillness, viewers can look into their thoughts, feelings, and aspirations, connecting with their inner self so they can be aware of the here and now.
Jay Ragma is a visual artist from Caloocan City. He received his bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts – Advertising Arts from the University of the East. He is most known for his paintings of symmetrical lines inspired by the Italian Futurism movement born in the early 20th century. This artistic movement emphasized dynamism, youth, technology, violence, and the beauty of speed.
