Altro Mondo Creative Space gathers senior and emerging artists Allain Hablo, Benjie Cabangis, Binong Javier, Bob Nuestro, Edwin Wilwayco, Elijah Santiago, Fitz
Herrera, Gary Custodio, Jay Ragma, Justin Nuyda, Kenneth Montegrande, Raul Isidro, Red Mansueto, Rod Samonte, Ross Capili and Sally Ponce Enrile to showcase some of the best abstractions in the country. In Refractions, the paintings of different
styles and techniques can be collectively viewed as bending of colors on canvas to achieve the artist’s desired pictorial idiom.

“Many of the artists represented in Refractions worked in large formats not only to explore aesthetic elements of line, color, shape, and texture, but also to activate scale’s metaphoric
potential to evoke expansive—”epic”—ideas and subjects, including time, history, nature, the body, and existential concerns of the self. Visual vocabulary of movements and styles including abstract expressionism, minimalism, constructivism and spatialism. It’s just that, in these curiously hybrid works in this exhibition, the history of contemporary abstraction in which the physical nature of the painting as entity becomes an avenue for artistic endeavour. A must see. It showcases some outstanding and sometimes infrequently seen works, and places some familiar, stellar
examples in new contexts in Philippine contemporary abstraction.”
