What shapes the lives we lead? Is it fate, luck, or destiny?

In Fate, Luck, and Destiny, artists Joly Beart!, Valerie Teng, and Sigwada Knicolai explore the delicate interplay between chance, choice, and unseen design. With distinct voices and visual languages, each artist reflects on how these forces influence the paths we take and the stories we live.

Joly Beart!’s vivid tableaux evoke fate as an invisible architecture that is inevitable yet often humorous, guiding the rhythms of daily existence. Valerie Teng, through her feng shui–inspired Lucky Meow series, explores luck as both belief and energy, an ambient force that invites harmony and serendipity into our lives.

In contrast, Sigwada Knicolai’s introspective character, #TheWoodenAstronaut, journeys through layered dreamscapes, tracing destiny not as a fixed endpoint, but as a constellation of choices, imagination, and unfolding selfhood.

Unified in theme yet diverse in approach, the exhibition invites contemplation on how the unpredictable, the structured, and the self-directed coexist. It leaves space for wonder, reminding us that meaning often resides in the small, unseen details of daily life.
