Pancho Alvarez

Pancho Alvarez graduated Bachelor of Arts, Major in Political Science from the Ateneo de Manila University in 2009, where he received the prestigious Loyola Schools Award for the Arts.

He is a fellow of the 2023 Linangan Art Residency in the Philippines and a resident artist of the 2023 Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center Residency in Italy where he worked on the collection Seasonal Adversities.

Alvarez has done multiple solo and group exhibits both in the Philippines and abroad, including a recent one in the United Kingdom. He has authored a book of illustrated fiction, which has been translated into Czech and published in Czechia in 2024.

Alvarez has constantly explored the effectiveness of visual communications by creating experimental media. His artworks have been published in books and articles of national circulation. In 2021, one of his works was used as the main image in an event during the Art Basel in Miami, Florida.

Alvarez continues to engage his community by providing art lessons through Tala Art Space, a creative venue he started in 2019. To this day, he remains committed in advocating for climate justice and decolonizing the Filipino amidst a world where culture is currency.
