In the captivating realm of “Memorabilia,” artist Ian Quirante invites us into a world where conscious narratives yield to the enigmatic landscapes of the human mind. Drawing inspiration from his surroundings and personal history, Quirante crafts vivid imagery that mirrors the meanderings of our own thoughts and memories. Towers of edifices, ethereal rock formations, and scattered anatomical fragments converge with Greek and Roman influences, forming dreamscapes devoid of conscious constraints.
Employing the technique of “psychic automatism,” Quirante embraces the unpredictable, allowing each painting to unfold organically, layering successive images upon the outcomes of the previous. This fusion of drawing and painting techniques, enhanced by the introduction of depth and value, reveals his inclination towards nonlinear compositions.
Within these artworks, Quirante delves into the labyrinthine scenarios of the human mind, simultaneously unraveling the workings of his own (sub)consciousness. “Memorabilia” beckons you to venture beyond the familiar, where the boundaries of possibility blur and the infinite expanse of the mind comes alive.
